Hello and thank you for the great article!

Thank you
Hello! We can confirm the paint color is Honorable Blue SW 6811. The finish appears to be satin.
Reviving an old wooden garage door in good condition. Fir or pine frame. With hard board panels inserts. Scraped old paint off. And cleaned. What is best paint or stain? Semi gloss?
Nice work on getting the garage door all cleaned up. Consider using SuperDeck Exterior Oil-Based Semi-Transparent Stain if you want to go with a stain look and Duration Exterior Acrylic Latex in gloss or semi-gloss for paint.
I have a new steel garage door the color is bronze. To say the least it is not what I was expecting. I want to paint it white. The dealer I purcased the door from said SW paint is used on the doors at the factory and it is baked on. Any advice on painting the door. It does get morning and afternoon sun and no shade until late afternoon. They said to be sure the paint has some heat resistance.
Hi Kim, as long as the door is clean, dull and dry, take a look at SnapDry for your project. Thank you.
We have hardwood garage doors. We sanded down then tried a Chestnut acrylic stain color on the garage and front door. Didn’t seem to penetrate on the garage doors. Did a couple of coats. It was suggested to try an oil based stain. Do you have the same colors in oil based exterior stains? Could’nt find them.
Hi Van, Chestnut SW 3542 is available in WoodScapes Exterior Polyurethane Semi-Transparent House Stain.
I work for a homebuilder that uses Sherwin Williams paint for our homes. We are having a blocking issue with the paint line on our garage doors. We use A100 line and when the paint is a dark color like black or dark brown during the summer months the heat causes the paint on the garage doors to block/check where the panels meet and where the panels meet the the surrounding weather stripping. Do you have a paint line that you can recommend that this will not happen with?
Hi there, we encourage you to reach out to your local Sherwin-Williams to investigate the root cause of the issue you are experiencing. Using a higher quality product such as Emerald or Duration may help avoid these issues moving forward.
For an aluminum garage door – which is better paint, Duration Exterior Acrylic Latex or Emerald Rain Refresh Exterior Acrylic Latex Paint? I will choose a color like Serious Gray likely in a Satin. It is a repaint of an older but in good condition. Thanks
Hi Pete! Both are excellent choices for your garage door. Emerald is our best in class product. On large expanses of metal siding, the air, surface, and material temperatures must be 50°F or higher.
Hello, is this the best paint from a UV and durability standpoint? I will be spraying it with an airless sprayer and it gets direct sun in the mornings. I saw the comment about the quick drying paint you offer for doors, but I am after the most durable in a semi-gloss that is not oil based. Thank you!
Hi Sean! Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel has excellent gloss and color retention. It can also be applied using an airless sprayer Tip .013-.017 inch
